Simi Valley
A city in its own valley, between the Santa Susana Mountains and the Simi Hills.

The place
Simi Valley is a city in southeastern Ventura County, in the valley of the same name, about 37 miles northwest of Downtown Los Angeles. The Santa Susana Mountains and the Simi Hills surround it, with the San Fernando Valley to the east and the Conejo Valley to the southwest, and the city is home to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
The Portolá expedition crossed the valley in January 1770, and in 1795 it became part of Rancho Simí, a land grant of 113,009 acres run from the Simi Adobe. In 1888 a Chicago investor group laid out a townsite and shipped twelve precut houses here by rail and wagon, which became the valley’s first neighborhood.
