The place

Studio City is a Los Angeles neighborhood in the southeast San Fernando Valley, just west of the Cahuenga Pass. It takes its name from the studio lot that film producer Mack Sennett began building here in 1927, today’s Radford Studio Center, and the Los Angeles River and Tujunga Wash meet within its borders, just north of Ventura Boulevard.

The area was first known as Laurelwood and was once part of Rancho Ex Mission San Fernando. In the hills, Wilacre Park (128 acres) and Fryman Canyon Park (122 acres) are linked by the Betty B. Dearing Trail, which runs up to the Nancy Hoover Pohl Overlook on Mulholland Drive.
